The mountainous land refers to the land to the south of four biggest reservoirs of Meishan, Xianghongdian, Foziling and Longhekou, covering an area of 6.795 million mu, accounting for 25.2% of the total area of Lu'an. The mountainous land is divided into middle lountainous lands and lower mountainous lands according its altitude above sea level. Middle lands are located above 800 meters above sea level, consisting of granite, gneiss and diorite of the Paleozoic era and the Mesozoic Era, vulnerable to weathering. As the vertical altitude changes, the soil, climate and vegetation vary remarkably. The Lower lands are located above 800 meters above sea level and are in the outer area of the Middle lands, consisting of mainly granite, metamorphosed rock and shale. The slope is seriously eroded with remarkable vertical difference. There??re basins dotted in the mountain valleys, which are the limited cultivate land.
